Funeral Director & Embalmer
Shelley Family Funeral Home & Crematory is proud to welcome Brandy Williams to their staff. She is a licensed funeral director, embalmer and Pre-Need Counselor. She will be caring for the Arkansas City area families. Brandy comes to us with an extensive background in funeral service. She graduated in 1998 from the University of Central Oklahoma with her bachelor’s degree in Funeral Service. The last 15 years, she has lived here in Cowley County. She is knowledgeable and compassionate to the needs of this community.
She has brought with her some new ideas for memorialization and fresh ideas to capture the essence of a person’s life. Brandy believes that big changes are coming for funeral homes and need to be ready to facilitate the changes. One change is that switch from “traditional funerals” to “traditional cremations”. Cremations are expected to hit an all-time high in our industry in the next ten years.
Funeral directors need to be ready to the meet the needs of our community to help them plan a funeral in whatever location that may be. The traditional places of the chapel, church or graveside are slowly becoming less popular. Families want to have “memories made events” in places such as a baseball field, rodeo grounds, local parks or even a lake. At Shelley Family Funeral Home & Crematory, we own and operate our own crematory meaning when your loved ones dies, custody of your loved one never leaves our care. Some funeral homes outsource their cremations, meaning they deliver the body to a facility and then return the next day to pick up the cremated remains.
If you need help planning a celebration of life event please contact her at the funeral home. In addition to her work, she enjoys making memories with her family. She and her husband, Matt also own and operate Silver Creek Rodeo Company. They produce about 50 amateur and professional rodeos a year throughout the midwest . Local events are the Cowley County Fair Rodeo in August. Brandy and Matt enjoy activities with their three children, Hannah, Bowdy and Addyson, who attend Central School of Burden, KS.
