William Farrell Lofton, 84, of Winfield, KS passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Winfield Senior Living Community surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Winfield First Church of the Nazarene. Graveside service with military honors will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be held from 6-8 P.M. Monday, February 17 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. Memorial contributions in Farrell’s name may be made out to the First Church of the Nazarene, contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.
Farrell was born in Blythe, CA on December 7, 1935 to parents Glenn Lofton and Lois (McDorman) Lofton. He attended high school in Blythe until his senior year, he graduated from Pasadena Nazarene Academy in 1953; later that year he joined the Air Force and became a mechanic. On July 18, 1958 he married the love of his life Eugenia “Jenell” Finger. After Farrell left active duty in 1959 the couple moved to Barstow, CA where Farrell worked at various businesses and also as a truck driver. He began working for the Fort Irwin National Guard as a machinist from which he retired in 1990. The Lofton family moved to Winfield and in 1993 Farrell started his final career as the head of maintenance for the First United Methodist Church where he worked for exactly 20 years. Farrell could fix anything mechanical but more important to him was his relationship with God. He was a member of the Nazarene Church and served on the board and in various leadership roles including: Sunday school teacher, singer, pulpit supply and discipling believers.
Farrell is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Jenell; daughter Renee Denison and husband Jamey, son Dave Lofton and wife Amy, daughter Chrisy Mull and husband Chris; grandchildren: Jared Lofton and wife Sabrina, Caleb Lofton, Emily Wilson and husband Myles, Chloe Mull, Kaitlyn Denison, Rachel Lofton, Ian Mull and 8 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara Cullen, infant brother Richard and grandson Trevor Denison.
