Timothy Hays Obituary

Timothy Hays was born on March 16, 1949, to Clarence and Ester (Batman) Hays in Hays, KS. Tim was educated in Hays, KS. Tim ended up living for many years in Arkansas City, KS. Here he started a company called Hays sign company. For many years he built many signs in the area. He also maintained many billboards in the area. He also did screen printing for many companies in the Cowley County area.

Tim was a loyal member of the Ark City Eary Bird Lions club for many years. He served in many capacities in this club. He served as the District Governor and received the coveted 100% District Governor’s Award. Many things were accomplished under his competent leadership.

Tim volunteered many hours to the Ark City Habitat for Humanity. He worked many hours making sure houses were completed. He offered the use of his equipment that he used in his sign business to help build these houses. Tim also was a regular volunteer during the Christmas season for the Salvation Army. For many years Tim could be seen in the community ringing the bell in front of the red pot.

On Friday, February 2, 2024, Tim breathed his last earthly breath at the Anew Senior Living Center in Oxford, KS. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Elena Vargas of the home, sister Joy Bennett of Arizona and brother Mike Hays of Wichita.

No services are scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to The First United Pentecostal Church of Ark City, KS, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City, KS.
