Thomas Karl Preedin

Thomas Karl Preedin, 72, of Arkansas City, KS passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023.

Thomas was born in 1950 to Alphonso and Francis Preedin in Los Angeles, CA. He attended and graduated from high school in Santa Monica, CA. Thomas enjoyed Nascar racing, watching Dallas Cowboys football, and spending time with family.

He began his career helping at his father’s printing shop. He then began work at GTE of Southern California as a lineman and auto mechanic for many years. After moving to Kansas in 1981, he began working at a local auto service, Stevens Chev., and Ark City Tire.

Thomas is survived by his wife Carol Preedin; sons Russell Pate and Matthew Preedin; daughters Crystal Metzinger and husband Billy, and Susanna Pate Estrada; grandchildren Brice Harader Pate and wife Reese Hollenbeck, Brandon Pate and wife Brooke, Joshua Metzinger, Nathan Metzinger, Camden Estrada and wife Mica, Morgan Estrada, Chasity Preedin, Daci Preedin, and Mattison Preedin; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws Lois Preedin and Trish Preedin of California; Nieces Suzette Tingley of Tennessee, Cynthia Preedin, Kathryn Preedin, Naomi Preedin of Chicago, and Debra Fox Marvin and husband John of Oklahoma City; Nephews Michael Preedin and wife Colleen of Oregon, Jacob Preedin, Ezekiel Preedin of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonso and Francis Preedin, father and mother-in-law Ralph and Hazel Matthews, brother Robert W. Preedin, grandson Andrew Estrada, sisters-in-law Carol Lefavor, and Janet Matthews.

Private interment will take place at Parker Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
