Stephen “Steve” Strobel, 73, of Arkansas City, KS passed away Tuesday, September 6th, 2022.
A private family celebration will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society and the United States Wardog Association, Chapter 1. Contributions may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
Steve was born on June 8th, 1949 to Lloyd and Donna (Buckman) Strobel in Great Bend, KS. He attended Macksville High School, graduating in 1968. He attended the Vocational Ag Program at Cowley County Junior College. Steve was united in marriage to Reginna Gearhardt on September 17, 1971, in Arkansas City, KS. Steve worked for the Larned Coop before going into farming with his father. Later he went to work in the oil fields and finally retired with the City of Arkansas City as an Arborist for the parks department, where he worked for 27 years.
Steve enjoyed woodworking, motorcycles, playing the banjo in which, he was self-taught, bluegrass music, his pets, and watching the Kansas City Royals.
Steve is survived by his wife Reginna Strobel; daughters Carrie (Patrick) Clouston, and Alicia (Jeff Hanson) Strobel; grandchildren Lena Marie Clouston, Carlee Jean (Jorge Raul Miranda) Miller, and one great-grandchild on the way; aunt Beulah Hill; cousins Carol Gard, Connie Harrold, John Hill, Denise Reinas, and Phillip Strobel; sisters-in-law Becky Neal, and Janet Gearhardt; brother-in-Law John Gearhardt; nephews Jevon (Melissa) Gearhardt, Jason (Wendy) Gearhardt, Dusty (Melissa) Neal, and eight great-nieces and nephews.
Steve is preceded by his parents, father-in-law Floyd Gearhardt, mother-in-law Bertie Gearhardt; his brother-in-law Dwayne Neal; cousin, Keiran “Kim” Strobel; and his beloved pets Petie and Emma Lou.
