Roy’s formal education was short lived but because he was an extremely intelligent young man he educated himself through much reading and experiencing life itself. He was an avid learner and especially loved talking about the Lord and current events in relation to prophecy.
Roy was twenty-five when he married the young love of his life Chris Chandler, who preceded in him in death, Chris was very young when they married and he was always proud of the fact that an old man of twenty-five won the heart of such a lovely young chick. Together Roy and Chris produced four children.
For many years Roy enjoyed working with the handicapped in both Winfield and Ark City, Kansas. He started out working at the old state home in Winfield which no longer exists.
Roy was hospitable, loving and generous almost to a fault. He loved cooking and sharing his love through his gifts of food which many in Winfield, Ark City and surrounding areas can attest to. He would use any excuse to take love gift of a ham, roast or barbequed meat to friends on any occasion. Grieving families who had lost a loved one could almost always count on finding Roy at their door with a love offering of delicious food.
Roy loved unconditionally. He was the favorite uncle of the most all his nephews and nieces because he never judged them, just poured out buckets of love on one and all. He is survived by four children; Kyesha, of Ark City, Kayla of Ark city, Kristen of Ark City and son Keyon and wife Lynlee of Oklahoma City, OK. Three grandchildren: Keyera, Kash and Keyronje. His mother, Flora Walker, five sisters and eight brothers. He was loved as much as he loved and will be sadly missed by his ninety-two year old mother, all his siblings and a multitude of family and friends. Rest in peace Roy, we love you.
