Roy Raymond Pickens

Roy Raymond Pickens, 67, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 12, 2022, surrounded by his family.

His family invites friends to a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Blessing Heights Church of Arkansas City. Memorial contributions for Roy may be made to the Shelley Family Funeral Home to defray expenses, or to the Blessing Heights Church. Contributions may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

Roy Pickens was born on August 28, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio to Raymond Pickens and Louise (Davis) Pickens-Downs. He was united in marriage to Betty Carlyle on September 24, 2005. During his lifetime Roy worked as a Security Guard in Illinois. His hobbies included flipping house trailers, buying and selling cars, shooting, firearms, and he was a member of the Blessing Heights Church.

Roy is survived by his wife, Betty Pickens of Arkansas City; children Tyler (Heather) Pickens of Batesville, IN, Michele (James) Ozbun, Christine (Mike) Neal all of Arkansas City, Kimberly (James) Burkett of Maize, KS, and Amy (Johnny) Smith of Lomalinda, MO; 26 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; brother Roger Pickens and a sister, Carolyn Downs both of Arkansas City; and his nephew Wayne Downs of Carbondale, IL. Roy is preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter.
