Ramona Marie (Fox) Keesey, 59, of New Salem, KS passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 27th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield. Interment will take place at the New Salem Cemetery at a later date. The family will greet family and friends from 5-7 P.M. Friday, February 26th at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the “Keesey Grandkids College Fund,” contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Ramona was born in Liberal, KS on November 22, 1961, the daughter of Gene Leon Fox and Georgia Colleen (Maschino) Fox. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1980, then attended St. John’s College, Cowley Community College, and later graduating with her Bachelor’s at Fort Hayes University. Ramona was united in marriage to Michael Keesey at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield, KS on February 5, 1983. She worked at Snyder Clinic, as an elementary para, part time on call intake officer, and at her most loved position as a corrections officer for the Cowley County Juvenile Intake, from which she retired. Ramona enjoyed many hobbies including attending church, taking her grandkids to Sunday School, embroidery, scrapbooking, gardening, playing board games and cards with family, crosswords, coloring, puzzles, camping, fishing, and watching her sons figure 8 race. Most of all Ramona loved being a stay at home grandma. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she never missed out on having family dinners or going to her grandkids sporting events and activities. She especially loved baking with them. A favorite was banana bread. She enjoyed hunting for heart shaped rocks when out and about and her Vanilla Dr. Pepper. Ramona also loved and enjoyed her dog Lily. They would often share milk and cookies at night.
She is survived by her mother Colleen Fox, husband Michael Keesey, children; Jason Keesey, Brian Keesey, Austin Keesey and wife Bionca, Sarah Hall and husband James. Ramona loved her grandbabies Brinley Keesey, Aubrey Keesey, Wyatt Keesey, Timmy Keesey, and Barrett Keesey. She always said they were the icing to her cake. She is preceded in death by her son Ryan Keesey, Father Gene Fox, grandparents Willard and Helen Fox, and Francis and Georgia Maschino, and great-grandparents George and Hilga Schuelein, and Frank and Mary Severin.
