Obituary

Opal Vivian (Tiger) Paschal Cloud, 88, of Arkansas City, KS, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.

A time of visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Funeral services and burial will take place later in Seminole, OK.

Opal was born in Seminole, OK on October 24, 1934 to parents Edmond Tiger and Lucy Mcgritt Tiger. Opal attended Dwight Mission until the 7th grade then attended and graduated from Chilloco Indian Boarding School. Afterward, she went to California and met William Edward Paschal Jr. and married in Yuma AZ, in 1952. She traveled around different states of the USA before settling in Meraux, LA where she went to work at St. Bernard Hospital and then managed a waffle house for years.  She moved back to Seminole, OK, then divorced. In Seminole, she met and married Holland "King" Cloud in 1971. Opal later moved to Arkansas City, KS where she worked for the Country Club, the college, and several other businesses, managing the kitchens. In 1978 Opal went to OU and Tonkawa University for a counseling degree and worked for Chilloco Indian Boarding School as a boy’s and girl’s counselor and in the kitchen. Then as it changed hands to Narcanon she worked in in the kitchen until her retirement in 1992.

Opal enjoyed going camping, fishing, playing pitch, dominos, and sudoku, listening to country music and dancing. She also enjoyed playing sports as a young girl and liked watching football. Opal was a hard worker and a very Godly woman; she was so proud of her family and her Native American Heritage.

Survivors include her children Kathy Paschal (Jim Delis) of Arkansas, Robert Paschal (Rita Bruce) of Seminole, OK, Betty Morse (Randy Morse) of Arkansas City, KS, Tammy Jones (Mark Jones) of Seminole, OK, Michael Paschal of Arkansas City, KS, Norma Cloud of Arkansas City, KS, James Cloud of Oklahoma City, OK, 89 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, siblings Wanda Barbra of Maud, OK, Prem Brook Tiger of Seminole, OK, and Randal Tiger of Shawnee, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Opal is preceded in death by her parents, husband Holland Cloud, daughter Veronica Simons, several siblings, and 6 grandchildren.
