Melissa Ann Vaught

Melissa “Missa” Ann Vaught, 51 of Arkansas City, KS passed away February 9, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Osborne Cemetery in Mayfield, KS, no visitation is scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Arkansas City VFW post 1254, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

Missa was born on January 6, 1971 in Knoxville, TN to parents Richard L. and Sandra S. (Southerland) Folk. She received her GED in 1993 from Cowley College and her CMA in 2011. On July 18, 2013 she was united to the love of her life Duane Vaught in Arkansas City. Missa spent most of her career working at Southwind Rescare and medically retired in 2019 due to cancer. Missa was an avid cat lover with several fur babies, she devoted her life’s work to being a CNA/CMA and loved helping others that were not able to help themselves, she loved her family, children and grandchildren dearly.

Missa is survived by her husband Duane, father Richard and mother Sandra, and children: Alexander Warheit, Brian Kent Vaught, Michael Wunderlich, and Dominic Cooper all of Arkansas City, and granddaughter Jasmine, brothers Steven Folk and Alen Hotchkin.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, William C. Southerland, Doris Heasty, George A. Folk and Mabel Nellis.
