Melba Ruth Neighbors, 94, of Winfield, KS passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Presbyterian Manor of Arkansas City.

Melba was born March 26, 1928 in El Dorado, KS the daughter of Carl and Sylvia (Benjamin) Beckner. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1947. On September 26, 1948 Melba was united in marriage to the love of her life, James A. Neighbors in El Dorado, KS. She worked at the El Dorado State Bank, as a telephone operator, as a shuttle bus driver in Winfield, and also as a receptionist for Ron Poltera DDS. Melba was a talented seamstress, and she enjoyed making custom drapery and quilts at her home.

Melba is survived by her son Kevin Neighbors and wife Sharon, grandchildren Jenifer Neighbors and Julie Levy and husband Carl, and great-grandchild Collins Levy. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband and an infant son.

Melba will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions for Melba may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
