Mary Ann (Mills) Coe, 90, of Winfield passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital.
Mary Ann was born July 6, 1931 in Sedan, KS the daughter of Chester and Dorothy (Boyd) Mills. She was raised in Sedan and graduated from Sedan High School in 1949. In 1951 she was united in marriage to Charles Donald Coe, while her husband was in the air force they lived in Tucson, AZ and Wichita, KS for several years, the couple later moved to Cedar Vale, KS. Mary Ann worked as a telephone operator in Coffeyville, KS, she worked in the Cedar Vale Hospital business office, the Cedar Vale Clinic, the Chautauqua County treasurer’s office, and the People’s Place in Cedar Vale. Mary Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cedar Vale, she was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling, painting, playing card games, watching K-State games with family, and attending her grandchildren’s and all of Cedar Vale’s athletic events.
Survivors include her son Charles Donald “Don” Coe, Jr., of Cedar Vale, daughter Beverly Coe Simmons, of Winfield; grandchildren: Erik Preston Ankrom (Mallory) of Olathe, KS; Emily Dawn Hargraves (William) of Burbank, OK; Brett Alan Coe (Lindsey) of Bartlesville, OK; Jake Allen Simmons (Kylie) of Olathe, KS; great-grandchildren: Presley Perrier, Gracie Hargraves, Ben Hargraves, Emmeline Ankrom, William Ankrom, Addison Coe, and Brooks Coe; sister Karen Wells, and brother-in-law Darrell Coe. She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister Phyllis Alexander.
Private celebration of life services will be held at a later date. Her family asks that cards be sent to the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield – 803 Loomis St. Winfield, KS 67156.
