Mary Elizabeth Wilson

Mary Elizabeth Wilson, 62, of Wichita, KS passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield, burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will greet visitors at the funeral home from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Memorial contributions for Mary may be made to the Winfield Food Pantry, donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.

Mary was born in Alton, IL August 17, 1959 the daughter of Robert and Betty (Teske) Gengler. She attended Edwardsville, IL high school, graduating in 1977 and then attended the Southern Illinois University. She was united to her beloved, Michael T. Wilson in Winfield, KS on October 9, 1992. Mary worked as a phone operator for Southwestern Bell and as a bus driver for USD 465 where she adopted many bonus kids. Mary loved taking road trips, collecting rocks, playing video games like Pokémon Go, and was a lover of animals. Mary greatly treasured her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her son Andrew Wilson and wife Jessica, daughter Emily Christner and husband Jerry; grandsons: PFC US Army Kevin Hale-Wilson, Lance Bickerstaff-Wilson, Mason Bickerstaff-Wilson, Peyton Christner and Ethan Christner; siblings: Barbara Provine, Susan Winn and husband Robert, Cynthia Hommert, Sally Thornton and husband John. She is preceded in death by her husband Michael, her parents, and brother Robert J. Gengler.
