Lee Stoner, 87, of Oxford, died July 26, 2020 at his home in Oxford with his family by his side.
Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials have been established with the Wellington Humane Society PO Box 494, Wellington, KS 67152 and the Wellington Church of Christ 217 W. 13th, Wellington, KS 67152.
Lee Harold Stoner was born March 3, 1933 in Winfield, KS, the son of Milton and Frances (High) Stoner. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1951 and joined the US Army serving from 1953-1955 as a radio tech and driver for a General during the Korean War. Lee was united in marriage on November 10, 1956 to Shirley Shilling. Lee was a police officer in Wellington, sold tires at Montgomery Ward and retired as a machinist from BAE in Wellington. He also was a CPR instructor, storm chaser, taxi driver for the railroad, driver’s license examiner and instructor and helped at the McNett farm. He loved spending time with his family and was a huge NASCAR fan and a Cushman Enthusiast. Lee was a member and former deacon at the Church of Christ in Wellington.
Lee is survived by his wife Shirley of the home; daughter, Becky Easterly (fiancé Phillip); 5 grandchildren: Chelsea Tomlin (Jeff) of Wellsville, KS, Cassi Easterly of Oxford, Chayse Easterly (Coty) of Wellington, Candi Easterly of Wichita and Chloe Easterly (boyfriend Joel) of Oxford; great grandchildren: Kensley Avina, Sailor Avina, and Hyde Easterly.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a great grandson, Carsen
