Larry Alan Bland, 69, of Burden, KS passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the Olathe, KS Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 1, 2021 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield, interment will follow at Union-Graham Cemetery in Winfield. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 2-4 P.M. Sunday, January 31st. Attendees are asked to please wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Memorial contributions for Larry may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society, contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.
Larry was born September 22, 1951 in Wellington, KS the son of Donald and Katherine (Judd) Bland. He graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1969. He was united in marriage to Cindy Chamberland on May 20, 1994 in Arkansas City. Larry was a hard worker and was employed at several different companies including: his father’s grocery store B&B Groceries, Bogarts Grocery Store, Rodeo Meats, Binney and Smith, Boeing, and at the Winfield Correctional Facility for 11 years. In the 80’s he owned two bars in Arkansas City, Townhouse and Bojangles. Larry loved his pets, especially his beloved dog Chloe, feeding wildlife, riding his motorcycle to Eureka, and he was a life-long Raiders fan. Larry was also on the City Council of Burden.
He is survived by his wife Cindy, daughter Kristin Bland, step-son Levi Butler, grandchildren: Aliyah Bond, Trinity Bond, Elizabeth Lewis, Trey Lewis; siblings: Pam Irwin, Randy Bland, Rick Bland, Donald Bland, and Donna Sue Larcom. Larry is preceded in death by his parents and brother Lance Bland.
