Judy Mae Arnold, 80 of Winfield, KS passed away April 7, 2022 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, KS.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Parker Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society and left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.
Judy was born on July 11, 1941 to Julius and Ola Mae (Webster) Purvis in Alamo, GA, and graduated from high school there. Judy then started nursing school in Augusta, GA where she met her future husband Bill Arnold. They married in Alamo on August 25, 1963. They later divorced. The couple moved to Arkansas City, KS shortly after their marriage where she worked at the hospital for 3 years and then the Ark City clinic until 1980. She then moved to Derby, KS so she could complete her Bachelor of Science in nursing degree at Friends University in Wichita, KS. At that time she began working as a Med Surge nurse at the Bob Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita until 1990 when she moved back to Alamo to continue nursing at the VA hospital in Dublin, GA and take care of her mother. After retiring in 2010 she moved to Winfield, KS in 2011 to be closer to her 2 sons and her 2 granddaughters. Judy was a proud Georgian and loved watching Nascar racing. She was a relentless QVC shopper and an avid Flowbee user. She enjoyed growing flowers, and crafting and never missed watching or keeping up with her granddaughters sporting events.
Judy is survived by her son Greg Arnold, daughter-in-law Michelle and granddaughters Linley and Briley Arnold. She is preceded in death by her son Geoff Arnold, parents and grandparents, Littleton and Annie (Howell) Purvis and Clarence and Vera Webster.
