Joyce Elaine (Thomas) Yaeger

Joyce Yaeger, 93, of Wellington passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Sumner Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wellington. Visitation will be Monday, February 24, 2020 prior to Graveside from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 with the family present at Shelley Family Funeral Home in Wellington. A memorial has been established with the Wellington Humane Society PO Box 494, Wellington, KS 67152 and may be left with the Shelley Family Funeral Home PO Box 555, 704 N. Washington, Wellington, KS 67152. 

Joyce Elaine Thomas was born October 23, 1926, the daughter of Ola Ralph and Audrey (Slaughter) Thomas in Scott City, KS. She graduated from Jetmore High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to August Yaeger on November 26, 1943 in Bazine, Kansas. Joyce worked as a teller at the Jetmore Bank, coop in Wellington in the late 60’s and handled office work for her husband at the National Farmer Union in Wellington.

Joyce is survived by her children: William Yaeger (Jan) of Wichita, KS and Connie Gard (Don) of Derby, KS; 4 grandchildren: Steven J. Yaeger, Jill Dizmang, Abby Ellison and Jesse Yaeger; 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, August Yaeger and a son, Steven Yaeger.
