Jim Wayne Stoabs, 69, passed away peacefully Monday, February 8, 2021 at his home in Winfield.
Jim was born in Winfield on November 15, 1951 the son of J.D. and Thelma (Branson) Stoabs. He grew up in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1969. Jim was united in marriage to Terri Huckvale at the First United Methodist Church in Winfield on June 1, 1973. He worked as an electrician for William Newton Hospital for 9 years, was a truck driver and also did maintenance work for Gordon and Piatt. He loved going to their cabin, woodworking, and walking his Gordon setter, Rosie. Most important in Jim’s life was his family, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Terri Stoabs, daughter Jennifer Sterling and husband Daniel, grandchildren: Jaden Sterling and Jenae Sterling (Brandon Stone); great-grandchildren: Mea Fleitz, Zaylen Stone, Zoey Stone, Zyliegh Stone and Zander Stone; siblings: Laura Butler, Rhinell Karr, John Stoabs, and Steve Stoabs, brother in law, Danny Huckvale (Cindy), and sister in law, Lori Pauls (Brad). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his parents.
According to his wishes, cremation will take place and the family will hold private memorial services at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society, and Kindred Hospice, contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
