Jessica Ann (Metzinger) Henning

Jessica Ann Henning, 43, of Winfield, KS passed away September 16th, 2021, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Wichita.

Memorial services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, September 25th, 2021, at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. The family will greet friends from 4-6 P.M. Friday, September 24th, at the funeral home. The family request in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to “The Olivia Henning College Fund.” Donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.

Jess was born on January 26th, 1978, in Winfield, KS to parents Donald Wayne and Denise Ann (Bradley) Metzinger. She attended Dexter High School and graduated in 1996. She graduated from Cowley County Community College and later attended Pittsburg State University. In 2000, she started her career at Ascension Via Christi Hospital working in Quality Control and Infectious Disease Control. Jess was united in marriage to Shawn “Ozz” Henning on June 5th, 1999, in Dexter. In June of 2006, Ozz and Jess welcomed Olivia. Jess grew up on the farm north of Dexter and participated in Rodeo and 4-H. She played volleyball, basketball, was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated as the Valedictorian of her class.  She enjoyed reading mysteries, Harry Potter and Nora Roberts books. She loved cruising dirt roads, watching the Green Bay Packers and Texas Longhorns, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She took most joy in going to Olivia’s softball games and other events Oliva had.

Jess is survived by her husband Ozz, daughter Olivia Henning, brother Travis Metzinger (Susanne), sister Valerie Becker (Brian), grandparents Bill and Darlene Bradley, brother-in-law Chad Henning (Cheri), nieces and nephews: Taryn Payne (Hunter), Tysha, Ellie, Wren, and Graham. Jess is preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Denise, Grandparents Don and Vikki Metzinger, and Ozz’s parents Ken and Sue Henning.
