Janette Gamber Obituary

Janette “Janelle” Gamber, 72, went to her Heavenly home on September 30, 2020 from her earthly home in Wichita surrounded by her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM Saturday, June 10th at Rolling Hills Community Church 8605 W. Maple St. Wichita, KS 67209. Memorial donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in Wichita and St. Jude's Children's Hospital, contributions may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.

Janelle was born July 24, 1948, to James and Louise Bauer Jr in Wichita. Janelle, her two brothers and sister moved around the country until Janelle married Clarence “Sonny” Gamber Jr. in 1967 where they settled in Wichita. To this union three boys were born, Bradley, Rob, and Brandon.

Janelle was a good, Christian, woman all of her life who faithfully prayed for her family daily. She was devoted to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and never wavered in her belief that God is in control of all things, including her life. Whatever the situation there was a Bible verse, prayer, and faith in God’s ultimate plan that all would be worked out for His glory.

Janelle began working at Christian Challenge Elementary school in 1979 as a lunchroom monitor working her way to Vice-principle until the school closed in 1990. Before the school closed Janelle had been accepted to Kansas Newman School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse specializing in pediatric care in 1992. She started her nursing career in 1992 in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Wesley Hospital and retired in 2007 as a personal nurse to Dr. Mark Springer.

Janelle was preceded in death by her parents and her brother James Valentine Bauer III. Survivors include her sons, Bradley (Rachel) Gamber of Winfield, Rob (Jesse) Gamber of Wichita, and Brandon (Stephanie) Gamber of Newton; Aunt Irene Steele (Jim); sister-in-law Charlotte Bauer of Olathe; brother Steven (Janie) Bauer of Phoenix, Arizona; and sister Raenona (Rick) McGrew of Wichita. She will be missed and remembered by five grandsons, three granddaughters, three nieces, three nephews and many others who were blessed in life by knowing her.

“She is strong and respected by the people; she looks forward to the future with joy.

            She speaks wise words and teaches others to be kind.

“She watches over her family and never wastes her time.

            Her children speak well of her.

“Give her the reward she has earned;

            She should be praised in public for what she has done.”
