James Henry Trenary, 84, of Arkansas City, KS passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 19 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Parker Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 5-7 PM Friday, February 18 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Manna Ministries of First Baptist Church, and Rivercross hospice, donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.
Jim was born on April 23, 1937 in Ark City to parents George and Hazel (Cannon) Trenary. Jim graduated from Arkansas City High School, he served in the Army Reserve from 1954-1955 and in 1955 he enlisted in the Air Force for 4 years spending some time in Alaska and Korea. He was united in marriage on October 10 th, 1961, to Ruth M. Bowman who passed in 2001, he later married Judith (Weigand) Day. After the military, he worked for the City of Arkansas City until 1966 and then started his career at GE working in the tooling department until his retirement in 1997. Jim loved woodworking, fishing, and gardening, he was a member of the Ark City Lions Club, Hackney Baptist Church, Manna Ministries, Arkansas City Music and Dramatics Club, and VFW post 1254 and American Legion post 18.
Jim is survived by his wife, sons David W., Jimmie L., and Greg A. and wife Lisa Trenary, grandchildren Mary, Jamie, Krista and husband Dale, Shayla, Cheyne, Elana Engelkin and husband Jacob, Bo and Fate Rose, great-grandchildren, Neveah Dean, Amariya Dean, Donte, Axle, Riley, Spencer, Charlie Scarlette Cooper, and Stetson, siblings Goldie Jo Dye Trenary and Rickie Stebbens, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, great-grandson Xander, sisters, Mary Viola Wolf, Georgie Purdy, Florence Edna Parks, and Alta Jean Rhodes.
