James E. Major

James E. Major, 89, of Arkansas City, KS passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City to defray expenses.

James was born December 15, 1931 to parents Porter and Viola (Hodison) Major in Arkansas City. James delivered papers for the Wichita Eagle and owned the 501 Club in Ark City from the 50’s to the 80’s, he enjoyed coaching women’s softball and watching baseball.

He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. James is preceded in death by his parents, daughters Tamara and Tina, and seven siblings.
