Harry Leland Catlin, 83, of Oxford, KS passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. October 14 at the Oxford Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, October 13 at the Oxford Funeral Service. Memorials in Harry’s name may be made to the Harry Catlin Memorial Fund for Oxford Wildcats Sports, contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.
Harry was born on January 22, 1937 in Miltonvale, KS to parents Harry Keith Catlin and Ida Irene (Winsett) Catlin. He graduated from Miltonvale High School in 1954 and earned a Bachelors of Science in 1958 from Ft. Hays State University for teaching and physical education. On July 25, 1954 Harry was united in marriage to the love of his life, Fay Yonally, they were happily married for 66 years. Harry worked as an insurance sales man, a high school teacher in several small towns, a coach, and owned the Emerald Bank of Oxford and Burden. He was a member of the Oxford Lions Club, the Oxford Masonic Lodge, and was on the Kansas State Board of Education, as well as the Oxford School Board and the Oxford City Council. Harry was a very generous man and loved spending time with family, he especially enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities.
Harry is survived by his wife Fay Alice Catlin; children: Jeanice Lowry (Tommy), Janice Slack (Michael), James “Jim” Catlin (Hilary), Jason Catlin (Tisha); grandchildren: Devin Catlin, Matt Lowry, Tim Catlin, Adam Catlin, Matthew Tincher (Elizabeth) Colten Tincher, Abbey Elliott (Doug), Darci Reyes (Jason), Aniesa Slack (A.J. Strickland), Kayla Slack, and Fayth Catlin; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; brother Dean Catlin (Diana), sister-in-law Lois Larson, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
