Glen Wayne Goyer, 77, formerly of Oxford, KS passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 at the Winfield Veterans’ Home.
Glen was born in Oklahoma City on August 27, 1945 to parents James Goyer and Alma (Williams) Goyer. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Glen proudly served in the Army from August 1965 to May of 1968 during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Janice Smith in Mulvane, KS on June 8, 1968. In 1970 he graduated from the NCK Vocational Technical School in Beloit, KS. Glen worked as a diesel mechanic for over 30 years; he was passionate about fabricating and tinkering, especially with vehicles, he could dream up anything and make it. Some of his most recent projects were his dump truck golf cart and “the little wrecker”. Another hobby of Glen’s was dirt work, which he did professionally and for family and friends. He dug ponds, cleared brush, leveled ground and much more. Glen also loved being outdoors, birdwatching, gardening, fishing, cooking ribs, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids.
Glen is survived by his daughter Beth Strickland (Jason), son Jeff Goyer (Paula Rader), grandchildren Avery and Owen, brother Rolan Goyer, sister Nancy Stephens, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brothers Joe and Kenny Goyer.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
