Eleanor Roylene Thompson

Eleanor Roylene Thompson, 83, of Winfield, KS passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Winfield Rest Haven.

Eleanor was born February 28, 1939 in Sabetha, Kansas to parents Elmer and DeWaine Bartram she spent most of her childhood in Beatrice where her family operated the small butcher shop and market. Eleanor enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She liked reading and doing crossword puzzles. Eleanor and Lee enjoyed history and spent a lot of time visiting museums.

On July 3, 1957 she was united in marriage to Bona Lee Thompson. As a married couple, they lived in several states Nebraska, Washington, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri and finally moved to Mulvane, KS for several years then moved to Winfield, KS in 1990 where they lived the remainder of their lives.

Eleanor was proceeded in death by her husband Lee, son JR Lee Thompson, parents and her 2 siblings. Survivors include children Kathy and Steven Kerns of Wichita, Brenda Thompson of Mulvane, and Sheila and Gene Reams of Winfield; grandchildren Angela Fry, Amanda and Mike Pawloski of Haysville - Richard Fagan,  Anthony Fagan, John and Hannah Fagan all of Derby – Calvin(CJ) and Christy Reams of Winfield – Kyle and Alicia Reams of Derby – Cassy and Jesse Kent of Mulvane; great-grandchildren Alexander, Berlynn, Savannah, Addison, Isabella, Christopher, Brody, Cason, Ammure, Owen, Geneva and Ellie.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 5th, 2022 at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery of Winfield. Memorial contributions for Eleanor may be made to the American Legion Post 10, contributions may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
