Douglas Ghram Obituary

Douglas L. Ghram joined God’s gospel choir on Monday, March 28, 2022. He left behind many family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Doug was born on February 11, 1946, in Arkansas City, Kansas to Lloyd “Bud” and Nora (Hartshorne) Ghram. He was the middle child of five, with older siblings, Donna and Dennis, and younger siblings, David and Deanna. He played baseball for the Ark City American Legion team and football for the Arkansas City High School Bulldogs. He received a scholarship to attend Arkansas City Junior College to play football. He met his wife, Cheryl (Mefford) Ghram while in high school and married her on June 10, 1966. He began traveling with the singing group, The Blessingaires after high school. He became an ordained minister through the Apostolic Church of God and began evangelizing and pastoring soon after. Doug and Cheryl soon started their family with two boys, Kevin and Ken. Over the years, Doug continued to pastor in Drumright and Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Arkansas City, Kansas and Siloam Springs, Arkansas. They added two more boys to the family, Stephen and Michael. Doug had many passions, chief among them his family, followed by music, woodworking and baseball. His faith in God led him to go many different places and to touch many lives through his music, evangelizing and pastoring. He moved his family back to Arkansas City for good in 1989 where he set up Cornerstone Woodworking, where he could build beautiful custom cabinets and restore antique furniture. He continued to follow God’s path for his life until the very end.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles and his nieces Diana Richey and Sheila (Kerr) Fullerton. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Mefford) Ghram of Arkansas City, his siblings, Donna (Ghram) Kerr of Hastings, Nebraska; Dennis and Kay Ghram of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; David and Joanne of Wichita, Kansas; and Barry and Deanna (Ghram) Lewis of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. His children, Kevin and Lisa Ghram with their children, Breanna and Brendan of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Ken and Rachel Ghram and their children Will, Bram, Katrina, Kendall and Bradyn and grandchild, Remington of Arkansas City, Kansas, Stephen and Kay Ghram and their children Joshua, Lyndon and Katie Miller and Benjamin of Blackwell, Oklahoma and Michael and Stephanie Ghram and their children Easton and Kinsley of Goddard, Kansas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
