Dennis Unruh Obituary

Dennis Leroy Unruh, 68, of Arkansas City, KS passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at Winfield Senior Living.

Private family services are scheduled at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.

Dennis was born January 14, 1953 in Arkansas City, the son of Cecil and Helma (Penner) Unruh. He attended high school in South Haven and Arkansas City, graduating from Ark City High School in 1971. He was united in marriage to Joan Metzinger on September 27, 1980 in Arkansas City. He worked for the Cowley County Highway Department and the Arkansas City Street Department for 30 years. Dennis was a charter member of the Hillcrest Bible Church, he also loved watching KU basketball.

He is survived by his wife Joan Unruh, son Kevin Metzinger, brothers Michael (Judy) Unruh, and Robert (Debbie) Unruh, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Keith and Beverly Unruh.
