Delbert Doyle Morgan

Delbert Doyle Morgan, 86, of Arkansas City passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 19, 2020.

Graveside funeral services for Delbert and wife Lela will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, June 26 at Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City. There will be a time of visitation from 5-7 P.M. Thursday, June 25 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

Delbert was born in Arkansas City on January 12, 1934 to parents Harry Chester Morgan and Dela (Graham) Hutchens. He attended school in Arkansas City and Silverdale, and later took college courses in Florida. Delbert married Lela Bratton on May 13, 1971 in Newkirk, OK, she preceded him in death March 25, 2020. He lived in Colchester, IL; Walls, MS; and Milton, FL; as well as Arkansas City. Delbert was the owner of Morgan Rentals for over 30 years, he enjoyed buying and remodeling properties, and helping build churches. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the NRA, and Harvest Fellowship Foursquare Church; Delbert enjoyed hunting, camping, deep sea fishing, boating, carpentry, and raising exotic birds. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include children: Harley Coker (Janet), Sharon Crane (Lloyd), Evan Morgan (Vonetta), Mark Morgan (Janell), Ricky Coker (Cindy), Paul Coker (Denise), Charlie Coker, Kim Wickham (Randy); sister Veva Schirlls; as well as 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Lela Morgan, parents, daughters Charlotte Morgan Ginder and Diana Spencer, sons Eddie Coker and Jimmy Coker, brother Buster Morgan, sister Audrey Poore, and brother-in-law Raymond.
