David Charles Obituary

David Eugene Charles, 82, of Wichita, KS passed away at his home surrounded by family Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

Graveside services will be held in the summer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior project and left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.

Dave was born on June 13, 1939 in Richmond, IN to parents William Herbert and Iola Pearl (Wert) Charles. He graduated from Tuscan High in 1957. He was an office machine tech and later a service manager for Monroe, working in Denver, CO, Springfield, MO, Sherman, TX, and retiring in Wichita in 1996. Dave enjoyed working on cars and tuning up hotrods, listening to country and bluegrass music, and watching westerns.

Dave is survived by his sons: David A. Charles of Rose Hill, KS, Mike Charles of El Dorado Springs, MO and Eric Charles of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren Andrea Gordon, William Scott Charles, Zachary Charles, Matthew Charles, Jada Charles and Chris Charles. He was preceded in death by his wife and siblings Stephen and Mary Charles.
