Cyril Joseph (Cy) Roths, 90 of Wellington passed away March 26, 2020 at Wellington Health & Rehab under the care of Hospice.

Due to social precautions, a private family services will be held. A memorial has been established in Cy’s name with the Knights of Columbus Building Fund. Donations can be sent in care of Shelley Family Funeral Home, PO Box 555, 704 N. Washington, Wellington, KS 67152.

Cyril Joseph (Cy) Roths was born to Margaret and John Roths April 9th, 1929 at St. Marks, KS. He attended school at St. Marks through the 2nd grade. He and his family moved to Conway Springs, KS where he graduated from Conway Springs High School in 1947. He married the love of his life Wanda (Gilges) Roths at St. Joseph’s Church in Conway Springs on August 18, 1954. The service was performed by Father Tareline. Cy and Wanda moved to Wellington KS in 1954 and raised 4 children. Cy worked for Plessy Midwest for many years and as well as a part-time insurance agent for Farmers Insurance Group for over 30 years. Cy was a Korean War Veteran and member of the USAF 3750th Technical Training Wing at Shepard Air Force Base in Texas. Cy was very involved in St. Anthony/ St. Rose Catholic Church. He served as a lector, usher and volunteered for the Mission Thrift Shop. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus #2227. Cy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and tinkering with cars. He always greeted you with a joke, or a witty saying, and a smile.

He is survived by his 4 children: Roger (Liz) Roths, Allan (Amy) Roths, Debbie Sandell, Suzanne (Tim) Hay all of Wellington KS. 12 Grandchildren; Isac Roths (Carrie), Airily Cornejo (Jesse), Courtney Aungst (Douglas), Jason Roths (Jessica), Ryan Hay (Jennifer), Sydney Hay, Dylan Hay (Alyssa Leon), Taylor Sandell (Jessica), Jessica Vega, Mikey Collins, Ashley Collins and 21 Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Margaret Roths, his wife of 64 years Wanda Roths, brother Herbert Roths, and 6 sisters, Leona Hilger, Freda Erker, Ermenia Stark, Sister Celestine (Elizabeth Roths), Mary Doffing, Gretta Sisco and grandson Nathan Sandell.
