Charles B. Cullum, 86, of Arkansas City, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 22 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City, interment will follow at Parker Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 5-7 P.M. Wednesday, July 21. Donations in memory of Charlie may be made to the Shelley Family Funeral Home to defray funeral expenses.
Charlie was born November 23, 1934 in Marianna, AR the son of Fred and Trudy (Childrey) Cullum. He graduated from Marianna High School in 1953, attended Cowley County Community College, and later served in the Navy Reserves. In the early 70’s Charlie became a registered land surveyor and bought a surveying business, he ran Cullum Surveying in Arkansas City for 40 years. In July 1971, Charlie was united in marriage to Dixie Humbolt. Charlie was a true outdoorsman, whether it was elk hunting in Colorado or fishing in a local pond, he loved his hunting dogs and going camping as well. Charlie had a great sense of humor and he will be missed by many.
Charlie is survived by his wife Dixie Cullum, children: Brandi Cullum, Bobbi Lechlider, Shelly Bonner, Steven Cullum, Sherrie Cullum, Desiree Cullum, Peggy Wyckoff (Frank), Cindy Huff (Raymond), Johnny LeClair, and Debra Creekmore; siblings: Jessie Pounds and Shirley Stafford; and an innumerable amount of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Betty Vickers, Joyce Cullum, Kenneth Cullum, and Franklin Cullum.
