Betty Eastman Obituary

Betty J. Eastman, 78, passed away surrounded by her family at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS on June 26, 2022.

Betty was born on March 14, 1944 in Parsons, KS to Frank M. and Betty R. Anderson. After the end of the war and Frank returning home the family moved to Wichita, KS where Betty received most of her schooling. They later moved to Oxford, KS when she was a junior in high school. After graduation, on May 25, 1962 she was married to George Lowry in Oxford. To this union two sons were born; Richard William was born on August 19, 1964 and Mark Edwin was born on May 6, 1969.

Betty married Donald Eastman in Miami, OK on October 13, 1989. They made their home in Winfield and worked together for many years at General Electric Strother Field. They were inseparable and both retired from General Electric on the same day. They spent many years traveling and sight-seeing, also making friends in the Good Sam’s Camping Club. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, going to the casino and just spending time with family and friends. After Donald passed away, she formed a very special relationship with Jim Bowman of Winfield, they enjoyed spending time together.

Survivors include her son, Mark (Julie) Lowry of Belle Plaine, KS; grandchildren: Sierra (Lucas) Lott, Richard Lowry and Erick Lowry all of Belle Plaine, KS; great-grandchildren: Ruby and Calvin Lott and Ava Lowry; sister Virginia (Leslie) Kirkendall of Ponca City, OK; along with several nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish her memory is her very good friend, Mary Milner of Winfield. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her son Richard William Lowry, husband Donald Eastman, and sister Frankie Vannoster.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mulvane Masonic Lodge #201, donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.
