Beatrice (Taylor) Richards

Beatrice Richards, 88, of Geuda Springs, KS passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Winfield Senior Living Community.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 18 at the Geuda Springs Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arkansas City Missionary Baptist Church, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

Beatrice was born on January 26, 1935, in War Eagle, AR, to parents Elba and Letha (Roles) Taylor. On April 1, 1955, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Dean Richards, in Newkirk, OK. She moved to Geuda Springs in 1953 and spent the rest of her life there. Beatrice worked as a Psychiatric aid at the Winfield State Hospital from 1955-1981. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and singing, especially at the Missionary Baptist Church, cooking, and baking sweets, and she made the best chocolate chip cookies.  

Her family includes her daughters, Debra (Richards) Dowler and husband Steve, Judy (Freeman) Miller and husband Jack; brother Jerry Taylor and wife Gloria; grandchildren, Nathan and Tricia Cook; great-grandchildren Colten Cook, Lakin Hansen and husband Eric, Gage Cook, Kaydence McCreary and Gabby Havner; great-great-grandchildren Crew Cook and Carter Hansen. Beatrice is preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandsons Dustin Cook and Josh Miller, and brother Bill Taylor.
