Alvalene Jones, 82, of Winfield, KS passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022 at William Newton Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 3, 2022 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield, burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 4-6 P.M. Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Memorial contributions may be made to her son, Gerald Jones Jr., to defray funeral expenses, donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.
Alvalene was born May 17, 1939 in Winfield, KS the daughter of Alva and Bertha (Mann) Wilson. She grew up in Winfield and attended Winfield High School. On April 19, 1958 Alavalene was united in marriage to the love of her life, Gerald Leroy Jones Sr. in Miami, OK, he preceded her in death in July 2001. She worked for the Winfield Dry Cleaners for 3 years and for the Winfield Courier as a distributor. Some of her hobbies included knitting, playing cards and bingo, going to the casino, collecting pull tabs, reading, and knitting. Alvalene loved spending time with her family and going to the Wilson family reunions, where she won the corn hole tournament twice.
She is survived by her children Shirley (Kenneth) Schwab, and Gerald (Angie) Jones Jr.; grandchildren Krystle Schwab, Elizabeth Jones, Kenneth Schwab, Kevin Schwab, Kourt Schwab, Kelly Jones, Peggy Duron, Harry Beck, Austin Beck, Ashley Schwantes, and Justin Kreimer; 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings Richard (Debbie) Wilson, Allen Wilson, Perry Wilson, Joe (Katie) Wilson, June Spencer, Audrey Paxton, Bonnie (Steve) Bellew, Patty Helphingstine, Don (Shirley) Wilson, and Elaine McHenry. Alvalene is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Larry Jones, sister Joan Marlow, and brothers Wesley, Adam, Howard, Pete, Bill, Jacky, and Mike Wilson.
