Pamela Keesey Obituary

Pamela Jane (Wagner) Keesey, 74, of New Salem, Kansas lost her fight with cancer on Sunday, January 6, 2019. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.

A memorial gathering will be held at 12 P.M. on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the New Salem Community Building. Memorial contributions in Pamela’s name may be made to the Cowley Cowley Humane Society, contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home – 803 Loomis, Winfield, KS 67156.

Pam was born on March 2, 1944 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Winfield and was raised by her grandparents Joseph and Cora Winn. She went to church and school in Winfield. Pamela married Wayne Leroy Keesey on February 24, 1961 in Winfield. The couple bought a house in New Salem where they raised their four children and made their life-long home. Pam went back to school at the Wichita Nursing Institute and received her Medical Assistant License. She worked in the medical field and at the State School for many years. She enjoyed teaching at the Winfield Correctional Facility, from which she retired. Pam was an active member of the Holy Name Catholic Church where she spent many enjoyable years in the altar society and leading mass liturgy. Pam loved gardening, bird watching, camping, fishing, watching sports, traveling, reading, painting, crafting, cooking, baking and enjoying her family. She always looked forward to family cookouts and holidays, especially Thanksgiving!

Pam loved her family and enjoyed them all; she is survived by her husband Wayne, children: Mike Keesey and wife Ramona, Joe Keesey and wife Cheryl, Lisa Keesey Mitchell and husband Steve and Gena Keesey Crow, they loved spending time with their mama and stopping by to say hi. This family is very blessed to have had a great role model like Pam. Pam loved hugs and kisses from her 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren: John and Kacie Lockyear and their children Kirsten and Marc; Christopher Lockyear, Colby and Heidi Crow and their children Lilly, Tessa, Norah, Colton and Jameson; Tyler Crow and Shelby White, Jason Keesey, Brian Keesey and his child Timmy Keesey, Sarah Keesey Hall and husband James Hall, Austin Keesey and wife Bionca Keesey and their children Brinley, Aubrey, Wyatt, and Barrett will all miss her hugs and laugh.

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents Joe and Cora Winn.
