Naoma Reed Obituary

Naoma Sawyer/Reed, 74, of Winfield passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 at Winfield Senior Living Community with her family by her side.

Naoma (lovingly known by her family as Juju or Pink) was born in Vandergriff, Pennsylvania on March 23, 1944 the daughter of George and Naomi (Jowers) Shively. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1961. Naoma was united in marriage with F. Richard Sawyer on June 18, 1960 and made Oxford their home.  They were blessed with four children:  Christopher, Stan “Bo”, Michael and Buffy.   They enjoyed over 25 happy years together until Richard preceded her in death on July 2, 1986.   Naoma later married Richard “Dick” E. Reed June 2, 1990 and celebrated 28 years together living in Oxford & Winfield.

She enjoyed being a homemaker & caring for her family, especially with her cooking.  To her, cooking for someone was an expression of her love.  She was a voracious reader and loved to travel to see new places and meet new people. Naoma never knew a stranger and made many lifelong friends through their travels over the years.

She was able to spend the last month of her life sharing precious time and memories with family and friends.  She expressed her wishes that at her "Celebration of Life", she wanted lots of smiles, brightness and laughter.

Naoma is survived by her second husband Dick; children:  Christopher Sawyer, Bo Sawyer & his wife Gail, & Buffy Sawyer; brother Larry Shively, numerous grandchildren/great grandchildren & the extended Reed family. She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Richard, son Michael Sawyer and brother Steve Kovalik.
