Jim Dale Hughes, Sr., 81, of Winfield, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Life Care Center in Andover, Kansas.

Jim was born in Winfield, Kansas on September 25, 1936 the son of Richard and Phyllis (Hall) Hughes. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1954 and began working for Jarvis Auto. Jim worked for Gordan and Piatt for 11 years and then worked for Webster Engineering for 35 years, from which he retired at age 59. Jim liked to keep busy and started Jim’s Saw and Scissor Sharpening shop, he stopped working last year due to his health. On April 19, 1968 Jim married the love of his life, Donna Clubine in Winfield. He enjoyed fishing and traveling in their RV, as well as raising poodles and brittanys.

He is survived by his wife Donna Hughes of the home, son Jim Hughes, Jr. and wife Angie of Collinsville, OK; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and son Timothy who passed in 1984.

Cremation has been effected and there are no services scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society, donations may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home- 803 Loomis St. Winfield, KS 67156.
