Jean Carlson Obituary

Jean S. Carlson, 81, of Arkansas City, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at her home. 

Cremation will take place and her family will hold private services. Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City, KS is in charge of the arrangements. 

Jean was born on February 28, 1937 in Haverhill, New Hampshire the daughter of Oscar M. and Gladys (Demerritt) Stone.   She was reared and educated in Haverhill where she graduated from high school.   She completed her nursing degree at Butler County College.   She was united in marriage to Donald E. Carlson on September 15, 1993.   She worked at long term care facilities and was also a charge nurse before retiring in 2008.   She was member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Assembly of God Church in Newkirk, OK and enjoyed sewing, flowers and her cats.   She also enjoyed the Bible, animals and fishing.  She was runner up for Nurse of the Year for long term care facilities. 

Surviving family members are her husband, Donald of the home; children, Kenneth C. Lucas(Cindy) of Goffstown, NH; Richard A. Lucas(Margo) of Concord, NH; Wendy Sue Stockhausen(Neal) of Summerville, SC and Montie J. Tabor of Arkansas City; her siblings, Frank B. Stone, Barnet, Vermont and Kittie McIntire of Candia, NH; her 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Terry Gene Lucas; brother, Henry McIntire and 4 half-sisters.
