George Bennett Storey, 93, of Winfield passed away Friday, October 11, 2019 at Winfield Senior Living Community.
Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, October 17 at the Winfield First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church and Kindred Hospice. Donations may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
George was born August 3, 1926 in Mulvane, Kansas the son of Henry and Sadie (Seaman) Storey. He graduated from Mulvane High School in 1944. George was united in marriage to Donna Mae Defore on June 11, 1949. The couple lived in El Dorado, Mulvane, Wellington and Winfield. George worked as a manager of Southwestern Bell for almost 40 years. In his spare time, George enjoyed farming, raising cattle, woodworking and playing bridge; he was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, the Lions Club and was also a Scout master and the State President of the Pioneer Club.
Survivors include: son Doug Storey (Deb) of Rosehill, daughter Tressa Daniels (Lee) of Wichita, daughter Moneisa Owens (Scott Taylor) of Ponca City; grandchildren: Christopher Zollinger, Janelle Zollinger, Ryan (Erin) Zollinger, Camdin Clanton, Drexin Clanton and Huxley Owens; step-grandchildren: Rachelle Daniels and Jerrad Daniels; great-grandchildren: Blake, Matt and Emery Rose Zollinger; step-great-grandchildren: Aiden Godbout and Meghan Mohler. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, daughter Janara Clanton, brothers Carl, Kenneth and Francis Storey, sisters Pauline Slack and Katherine Beck.
