Don served in the Air Force for 4 years and 9 months. In 1962 the young family moved to Wichita where he began his career of working for Boeing,  Don worked in the tooling department of Boeing where he designed and made tools and jigs to aid in the assemblage of the Boeing 707 and 727, as well as military projects for Boeing. In 1964 the Kindt family moved to Winfield and from 1965-1970 the family lived in Washington while Don worked at Boeing. In 1970 the family moved back to Kansas, in 1972 the Kindts bought College Hill Laundromat and Dry Cleaner. When Don retired in 1995, he had worked for Boeing for 33 years.
