Charles Gillock Obituary

Charles D. Gillock, 59, of Arkansas City, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, December 12, 2018 at South Central Kansas Medical Center. 

Charles Daniel was born on May 9, 1959 in Gallipolis, OH, the son of Daniel Gordon and Dixie Y. (Madsen) Gillock.  After high school, he joined the United States Navy and was stationed out of Norfolk, VA.  He traveled for 8 years in the military and saw many places all over the world.  He was honorably discharged in 1985.  After his military career, he worked in construction and maintenance.   Charles loved sports especially Nebraska Huskers Football and NASCAR. 

He is survived by his sons, Jason and Christopher Gillock of Wichita, KS, his mother, Dixie Gillock of Arkansas City; his ex-wife, Terry Gillock of Wichita, KS; his siblings, Robert Gillock of New Jersey, Mike Gillock of Arkansas City and Michelle Howell of Augusta, KS; his grandmother, Wanda Hittson of Arkansas City; his 2 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Dan Gillock and grandparents, Jack Hittson and Gordon and Helen Gillock.  

Graveside Military Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 18th, 2018 at Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City.  Visitation services will be from 12:00 noon – 8:00 P.M. on Monday at Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. that evening.   A memorial has been established in Charles’ name for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1254.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
