Candice "Candy" Akin Obituary

Candice Courtney Akin, 28, of Stover, Missouri, formerly of Arkansas City, KS, was taken away too early from her 3 babies and family on October 29, 2018 at the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri. 

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on  Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Harvest Fellowship Foursquare Church, 1900 N F. St of Arkansas City.  Burial will follow at Parker Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 6-8 P.M. on Friday evening at Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.  A memorial for funeral expenses and her children has been established in her name with Ark Valley Credit Union of Arkansas City and donations can be made directly through the funeral home.   

Candy was a very loving and caring person.  Candy was selfless in her care for others.   Candy graduated from high school in Stover, Missouri.   After the birth of her first son, she and her family moved to Arkansas City.  In just recent months, Candy moved back to Stover, where she was hit by a vehicle while walking.  Her organs have been donated to save the lives of others.  She will be deeply missed by her children, family and friends. 

Candy is survived by her children: Joe, Arraya and Zach of the home; her dad, Leonard and mom, Mary of Arkansas City; her brothers; Patrick Rodke and wife Atalissa and children of Ponca City, Ok, Storm Acklin and two sons of Yates Center, KS, Coby Jordan and wife Loren and children of Bella Vista, AR; her sisters; Chanda Acklin and husband Tre and son of Leroy, KS, Brittany Hinshaw and husband Austin and daughter of Sterling, KS;  Lena Combs and 4 children of Newkirk, OK and Shi-lynn Camp of Oklahoma City, OK; her grandparents, Donna Akins of Topeka, KS, Marybeth Arnold of Neodesha, KS and Joyce Manly of Tonkawa, OK; her aunts and uncles, Angie and Noie Manly of Chanute, KS, John Manly of Tonkawa, OK; Jodie and Ernie Manly of Arkansas City; Jamiee and Lance Ochs of Oklahoma City, OK and Shawn & Amber Harp of Norman, OK and several cousins, extended family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her Aunt Dee, Grandpa Fred, Grandpa Neal and Grandpa John.
