Bobby Joe Gowdy, 88, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City with his family by his side.
Celebration of life services will be held at 12 PM Saturday, June 9 at Missionary Baptist Church in Arkansas City. Memorial contributions in Bobby’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home – 803 Loomis St. Winfield, KS 67156.
Bobby Joe Gowdy was born November 9, 1929 in Mannford, Oklahoma to parents Perry and Anna (Evans) Gowdy. Bobby married the love of his life, Evie Jean Miller, on September 5, 1954 in Arkansas City. Bobby worked for Orval Parker Oil Company and Anadarko Oil Company, he was also the maintenance supervisor at Home National Bank for many years. Bobby attended Missionary Baptist Church for many years, he also enjoyed traveling, flying, fishing, camping, cornbread muffins and fried pies. Most of all, Bobby loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include: sons Robert Gowdy, Kenny Gowdy and David Gowdy; grandchildren: Marc, Kristen, Erin, Ryan, Joshua, Jarrett, Perry and Levi; great-grandchildren: Chance, Braydon, Logan, Tyler, Autumn, Chloe, Neveah, Laney, Elianna, Beckett and Tatum. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sons Thomas and Bryan and granddaughter Jennifer and great-granddaughter Briana.
