Bobbie Riegel Obituary

Bobbie L. (Hotchkin) Riegel, 85, formerly of Winfield, KS passed away peacefully July 11, 2019 at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia, KS.

Bobbie was born February 6, 1934, the youngest child of Mac and Susie Hotchkin. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1952 and married Jimmie Riegel, Sr. on March 31, 1954. Bobbie loved her family and hated not being nearby, but she was thankful to be a military spouse, as it gave her and her family the opportunity to travel and experience new things. Bobbie dearly loved the Lord, when she was unable to attend church she dedicated time out of each day to spend in worship on her own.

Bobbie cherished her husband Jimmie, but she was never one to back down from an argument or the truth; they believed that they should never go to bed angry. It was always obvious they loved and respected each other. Bobbie was also known for being optimistic and for always seeing the good in people and hard situations. She was a hero to her children, who as adults recognized her courage, determination and sacrifices as she raised them by herself while her husband was deployed in South East Asia with the Air Force. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield, and enjoyed painting, drawing, and reading.

Survivors include her children: Jimmie Riegel and spouse Patricia of Grapevine, TX; Angela Riegel and spouse Gary Ridgeway of Winfield, KS; Suzanna Dailey and spouse Steve of Concordia,  KS; and Christopher Riegel of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many beloved nephews, nieces and friends.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings: Maxine, Eunice, Betty Jean and Donald, and one grandchild.

Memorial services will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield, KS. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
