Beulah Leah (Brewer) Cales

Beulah Leah (Brewer) Cales, 95, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City.

Graveside services will be held at 10 A.M Tuesday, December 10 at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. Monday, December 9 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winfield Community Theater and the William Newton Hospital Auxiliary, contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.

Beulah was born in Burden, Kansas on December 13, 1923 the daughter of Lynn and Marie (Showalter) Brewer. She graduated from Burden High School in 1941 and worked for Boeing from 1941-1945. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Cales in Winfield on January 4, 1947, he preceded her in death in 1998. Beulah loved being a homemaker and taking care of her family, she also worked as the bookkeeper for her family’s plumbing business from 1958-2006. Beulah enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, doing crafts, jigsaw puzzles and gardening; she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winfield, the VFW Auxiliary and the William Newton Hospital Auxiliary for 60 years. Beulah loved her family and her grandchildren were the center of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd, and sister Bernice Folger. Survivors include her son Greg Cales and wife of Joan, son Phillip Cales and wife Diana; grandchildren: Sara Hyatt and husband Keith, Douglas Cales and wife Kari, Rebecca Cales, Peter Cales and wife Amanda Gerding; great-grandchildren: Noah, Nicholas, Jack, Blake, Mia, Mavis and Edith, and numerous nieces and nephews.
